10 CUTE FALL DRESSES THAT ARE PERFECT FOR EVERYDAY WEAR:

  1. Tie-Neck Dress: It should come as no surprise that this dress is listed first on my roundup of cute fall dresses. It’s such a flattering fit and in an extremely versatile style. That’s why I had to share on my Insta Stories today how to style it FIVE different ways. All it takes is a swap of shoes and jacket and you’ve got the perfect look for tons of occasions!
  2. Shift Dress: This dress has shown up quite often on the blog and on my Stories because it’s that easy to wear and style for all seasons. In the fall, I love to pair it with an oversized cardigan and pointy toe heeled booties for an easy fall work look.
  3. Sweater Dress: It seems to me that most sweater dresses these days are too fitted or are borderline bodycon. Anyone agree? That’s really not my look, so I was thrilled when this dress came in and was such an amazing fit. I’ve worn it 3 times already! The fit is slightly slouchy but doesn’t come off too oversized. I went with the UK 8 (fits like 6-8) and it hangs just right. It pairs so nicely with over-the-knee boots (a perfect throw-on-and-go outfit!) but would be perfect with any of your other fall shoes. And it’s not too chunky to fit into the sleeves of your winter coat!
  4. High-Neck Dress: This style of dress adds such a feminine flair to your collection of cute fall dresses. This one would be a really easy closet staple since the detailing does a lot of the work for you. Just throw on block heeled sandals or booties with it, depending on the temps, and you’ll be good to go!
  5. Wrap Dress: A wrap dress is essential in all seasons, and I’m loving this floral option or this tailored fit for fall!
  6. Fall Floral Dress: Of all the florals, fall florals have to be my favorite. I’m not one for big, jumbo florals or intense patterns in general, but a classic, subtle fall floral dress is always a winner in my book! The fit of this one is so sweet and feminine. But you could drape a leather jacket over it and wear some western booties to add an edge!
  7. Collared Dress: A collared dress is also an essential in all seasons, but it’s important to include it for cute fall dresses that are everyday staples. This dress could pair easily with blazers and cardigans for the office along with booties or loafers. Pop on a pair of sneakers with it to make it a cool girl casual option for weekend brunch 😉
  8. Long Sleeve Tunic Dress: A tunic dress is another great option for an easy fall work outfit or a throw-on-and-go outfit. This long sleeve version is perfect for layering with coats/sweaters/jackets!
  9. Flannel Shirt Dress: A flannel shirt dress is perfect for runnings errands, grabbing lunch with a friend, or even for travel. I love to wear one with an oversized denim jacket and leather sneakers. Loving this one for under $30 – it comes in so many colors!
  10. Smock Waist Dress: Like I mentioned in this Insta, a smock waist dress is such a flattering fit for all body types. The smocking defines your waist and the skirt of the dress then blouses nicely over your hips. This style is great to pair with leather jackets and a pair of heeled booties/tall boots!

Thanks for reading along and I hope that you found at least one of these cute fall dresses to wear nonstop this season! Looking for more fall outfit inspo? Head here or join me over on Pinterest where I’m constantly pinning new fall style ideas.

30 Cozy Fall Sweaters under $75 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

This week’s forecast in Dallas had me running over to my parents’ house to gather my cozy fall sweaters to bring back to my apartment. ‘Tis the season!

There are a few sweater styles I’d like to add to the arsenal this fall, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite finds and other cozy fall sweaters to shop. I was looking for non-wool options like 100% cotton or other synthetic blends since it never gets that cold here, so this roundup has very versatile yet lightweight styles.

Not to mention all of these cozy fall sweaters are under $75 to keep your fall/winter classics at an affordable price point!

COZY FALL SWEATERS UNDER $75:

I’ve included lots more affordable, cozy fall sweaters below, but I wanted to point out some of my faves here!

  • I just got this varsity sweater in and I’m in love. Collegiate classics are very in this season, and I’m going to wear this sweater with this skirt and OTK boots quite a bit.
  • This mockneck tunic is on its way to me right now. I think it’ll be incredibly easy to pair with jeans, skirts, or even over dresses. A reader that bought it gave it this rave review: “Love the various directions of ribbing. Very flattering. Excellent price point. All cotton great for Texas fall weather.” Sounds good to me 😉
  • This waffle cardigan falls pretty high on the cozy scale for cozy fall sweaters. It can go with everything/everywhere: airplanes, to and from workouts, work, etc.
  • I just discovered that my cashmere turtleneck sweater has some pretty big holes in it. 🙁 I think this one will be a great replacement since I was looking for non-wool options anyway. There’s widespread abuse of sheep and goats (and alpacas, etc.) in the wool/cashmere/shearling etc. industry :(, so I’m no longer buying any wool products in general this season, so maybe it worked out that my cashmere one is a goner!

My Fall Essentials Shopping List

My Fall Essentials Shopping List 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a September baby, but fall is just my spirit season. So making my fall essentials shopping list is honestly one of my favorite activities ever. Outfits just seem easier to put together in the fall, and there are so many options! I’ve gotten a few requests for sweater recs etc., so I decided to put together the fall essentials that I’ll have my eye on or in my cart this season.

Popular Dallas style blogger Never Without Lipstick shares her fall essentials shopping list for fall 2018 | fall shopping list, fall outfit, plaid blazer outfit, block heel booties outfit, madewell jeans, fall outfits 2018, classy fall outfitsLong sleeve tee | Blazer | Jeans | Booties

FALL ESSENTIALS SHOPPING LIST:

One | Western Booties: I always wait until after NYFW to see how the trends are being translated into everyday fashion, and I have been loving how the western trend is being styled. I tried on these booties and knew that I HAD to have them immediately. Could even buy them in all the colors, honestly! Marc Fisher always makes such great fall essentials when it comes to booties. These western booties are well-made dupes of a very expensive brand! A note about how they feel: I have walked all over San Fran this past weekend in them and they have been so comfy without any pain once!

Two | Teddy CoatMy friend was wearing a teddy coat the other day, and I remembered being so sad when she’d snagged it last season right before it sold out! So I knew I had to hunt one down this season and not miss out. I decided on this one because of the silhouette not being too chunky for a teddy coat. I think it’ll be a really simple layer to pop over a lot of my fall looks! It’s also faux fur, so it’ll be lightweight for the Texas temps.

Three | Plaid BlazerI didn’t know that this pic on my Insta would be such a hit! I’m glad y’all are as much of a fan of a great plaid blazer as I am :). You really can’t go wrong with styling one. Throw it on over dresses or with jeans and skirts to chic up your look.

Four | Mockneck SweaterSince it never really gets that cold in Dallas, I like to opt for mockneck sweaters each season. They’re less of a commitment than the turtleneck sweater where you have to fold down and adjust the neck. I’m waiting for this more tunic-style one to come back in stock in the oatmeal color! I also just posted about this sweater that’s really lightweight for fall transitional looks and the neck isn’t intense ;).

Five | Oversized FlannelLast season, I got an oversized flannel similar to this one and fell in LOVE. In the fall, I wear it to run errands with leggings and sneakers but also to go out for dinner with jeans and heeled booties. Suffice it to say that this flannel has become one of my fall essentials permanently. It’s so comfy, warm, easy to wear, and I have my eye on the gray version this fall.

Six | Updated Pair of Black Jeans: I low-key wouldn’t mind being buried one day in a pair of my black jeans from Madewell. I have a few distressed pairs, a solid black pair, and I just added this pair to the fold. The button-front instead of the zip gives my black denim repertoire a nice new update and looks so cute with tees/sweaters tucked in. The hem is also slightly frayed which I really love because it adds texture and edge to a look!

Seven | Duster CardiganIf you’re a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan, then this one might make you giggle because of Lisa Rinna 😉 I do, however, think a duster cardigan is a great staple to elevate a look while keeping it both casual, warm, and cozy! I grabbed this one for just $25.

Eight | Long Sleeve Dress (now up to 30% off with code ONYOURMARK): UM, thank goodness I saw on another blogger’s Insta Story that Madewell was having an in-store only sale or I would’ve missed out on getting this dress for a deal. I really loved how this one fit; the pleats are really flattering and lay nicely.I’ve been loving how high-neck or tie-neck dresses like this one have been styled with western booties and accessories!  This dress will be so easy to transition into winter as well with tights and coats. BUT I have good news – the sale is now online! Get up to 30% off your purchase with the code ONYOURMARK.

Nine | Black Denim JacketI have two blue jean jackets and a pink one but not a black one! I’d recently been loving a bunch of looks I’d seen on Insta of people wearing black denim jackets. I’m going to snatch this one up ASAP. A black denim jacket is included in my fall essentials because I feel like it’s such a great layering piece to have that I can wear with my blue jeans. I just don’t really think the denim on denim look is for me, so this jacket will be just the right fix.

Ten | Faux Leather SkirtIt’s not easy to find a good faux leather skirt in my opinion. The fit has to be right and so does the look of the faux leather. This one from Topshop was such a score because it looks like real leather and fits really well. I went for an exact fit (US 6) in it instead of a US 8 for Topshop sizing. Not to mention it rings up under $50!

Honorable Mentions | This varsity/collegiate pullover has been on my wishlist for a bit and I might just have to cave! When I visited London, I saw so many collegiate-inspired pieces in the store windows. I’ll also have my eye out this season for a faux sherpa lined denim jacket.

What’s on your fall essentials shopping list? I’d love to hear! Shop more of my fall essentials and favorites here – I update it almost daily!

And happy October everybody…I’m all ready to start watching The Haunted Mansion and Halloweentown. Who’s with me?

5 Easy Fall Work Outfits

5 Easy Fall Work Outfits 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

The temps in Dallas are finally matching up with my content calendar for the blog – NICE. I’m so excited to share some very easy and cute fall outfits that you can just throw on and go. There’s nothing worse than waking up and stressing about what you’re going to wear for the day, so that’s why I like my work outfits to be super simple with room for accessorizing. I’ll wear a different jacket, earrings, or something to rethink the outfit in a different way for the next week! Now I do want to mention that I work in a pretty casual office where we can wear jeans. For those of you that work in a more formal setting, I’ll include tips to make these fall work outfits a pinch more formal :).

5 EASY FALL WORK OUTFITS:

Chambray + Black Denim for a Fall Office Look

Go ahead and consider a chambray button down as a must-have staple for your fall work outfits. Pair it with skirts, jeans, or slacks for a more business casual office setting. You can’t mess it up! I really love the button front detail of these jeans because they add an edge to what could normally be just boring black denim. The frayed hem is also another good option to consider because it’s not as noticeable as ripped jeans yet still edgy.

Shirt | Jeans (I size down to a 27 in Madewell) | Shoes (TTS in size 7) | Bag (linking dupe here) | Earrings

Blazer + Crop Flare Jeans for Fall Work Looks

Tee + Jeans + Blazer = the easiest equation for fall work outfits. The blazer and loafers add a more formal edge to the look while you’re still staying comfy in jeans and a tee. I think this look could work for a casual Friday at a more formal office or the jeans could be swapped for some tailored slacks.

Fall Essential Dress + Cardigan Outfit

This is THE best work dress EVER (and only $46!). It’s so easy to pair with so many different shoes and jackets. I love to wear it with this chunky cardigan and block heel sandals or booties. I think this could be great for a more formal office setting if you swapped the shoes for pointy toe pumps and a blazer if the cardi is too casual.

Must-Have Fall Faux Leather Skirt + Blazer + Booties Look

I just wore this to work, and I loved how “fall” it felt! You’ll also be seeing more of these western booties. They hit low enough on the ankle to wear with skirts and dresses because they don’t cut your leg off at a weird spot like other higher boots. Business casual girls: consider a longer faux leather pencil skirt and heeled booties or block heels to replicate this look.

Tee | Blazer | Skirt (I went with the size size 6 (like a 2-4) which is an exact fit so I recommend going up a size if you want a little more room)/ (pencil skirt option here) | Booties (TTS in size 7 for Marc Fisher)

Denim and Vest Work Outfit for Fall

This might just be one of the easiest fall work outfits to put together in this whole blog post! A sleeveless vest makes any look instantly chic. And slide-on mules are such a staple in my closet because they’re so easy to throw on to complete an outfit and then head out the door. For a more formal office setting, swap the distressed denim for cropped tailored slacks and leather loafers or pointy toe pumps.

Tee | Vest (This one is old, so linking a similar one) | Shoes (out of stock, linking similar)

5 Cute Summer to Fall Outfits to Have On Repeat

5 Cute Summer to Fall Outfits to Have On Repeat 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

If you live in Texas or the south, then this blog post title might intrigue you. It could, more appropriately, be titled “5 summer to fall outfits to wear until it’s November and actually feels like fall and I can maybe wear a sweater” – thoughts?! Although it is indeed September, it is still SO.DANG.HOT. Happy to state the obvious for my Dallas readers out there 😉  This time of year is always a struggle to dress for because we’re all feeling the fall vibes but can’t dress like it quite yet. So…what are we supposed to wear?! Good question. I rounded up 5 summer to fall outfits that you can have on rotation for work, birthday brunches, nights out on the town, etc. Don’t be ashamed to be an outfit repeater in any of these looks because we gotta do what we gotta do to look fall-ready but not be sweating.

5 SUMMER TO FALL OUTFITS TO HAVE ON REPEAT

Cami + Cardi Combo:

Of all the summer to fall outfits, this one is SO easy to throw on and go. You can also dress it up or down really easily depending on where you’re headed.

Cami (My exact cami is sold out! This one is quite low cut, so I only plan on wearing it for night events or going out. Option with more coverage here.) | Cardigan (Old, linked similar!) | Jeans (size down, I’m in a 27) | Purse (non-designer option here) | Hoops | Zodiac Necklace | Initial Necklacesummer to fall transition outfits, fall outfit ideas, casual fall outfit, fall transition outfits, fall transition outfits for work | Summer to Fall Outfits featured by popular Dallas fashion blogger, Never Without Lipstick: Cami + Cardigan

Eyelet + Denim:

You can still pair a summery piece like an eyelet blouse with your fall staples like your favorite denim. Once temps drop a little more, you could swap the block heeled sandals for ankle booties.

Summer Dress with Faux Leather Jacket + Booties:

This is one of those summer to fall outfits that’s really as easy as 1-2-3 and perfect for all kinds of occasions.

I wasn’t joking when I said that I wear 3 different variations of this to work every week. It’s so easy if you’re getting dressed in a hurry and you can rethink it with different shoes or accessories.

Cozy Casual Athleisure:

I couldn’t write this post without sharing a look with everyone’s favorite sweatshirt! This guy has been such a best seller around here…looks like we all have good taste 😉 It’s really cozy and perfect for lazy days, errands, cold offices, grocery stores, definitely travel, and more. I really love the split hem because it covers the booty and will be extra warm once it’s actually cold. It comes in so many colors and is also on sale for $40 right now! I’m definitely planning on getting another color for more of my cozy casual summer to fall outfits.

Sweatshirt (on sale for $40/size down, wearing a small) | Tee underneath (my new favorite cotton v-neck for only $13) | Leggings | Slip-on sneakers

Pilates Barre Studio: Why I Choose a Workout Studio Over a Gym 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Pilates Barre Studio review featured by popular Dallas life and style blogger, Never Without Lipstick

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a fitness post around here! For the past year now, I have consistently been working out at the Pilates Barre studio and TreadBarre here in Dallas. I thought I’d talk about the reasons why I choose to exercise at a studio versus with a trainer, on my own, at a gym, etc. with y’all if you’re evaluating different options or considering a change. I actually started doing pilates my junior year of high school at the Pilates Barre (not sponsored, just obsessed), so I like to think that I’m well-versed on the studio membership approach to exercise.

Top (similar here) | Leggings (I prefer the Luxtreme fabric from Lulu because it doesn’t collect lint/pill like the Luon leggings. I always wear a 7/8 length legging to keep cool during workouts) | Sweatshirt (size down or stay TTS, fits oversized) | Shoes (TTS, wearing size 7)

Pilates Barre Studio review featured by popular Dallas life and style blogger, Never Without Lipstick

Pilates Barre Studio review featured by popular Dallas life and style blogger, Never Without Lipstick

5 Reasons Why I Exercise at the Pilates Barre Studio:

  1. Accountability: This is truly the #1 reason that I budget for a studio membership. When I know that there’s a teacher & a class of people (oh and a charge for missing a class!) waiting on me, I’m 1000 times more likely to get my arse to a workout. If I just planned on going to the gym to workout, I can tell you I’d just put it off until forever like the time I attempted to commit to BBG…#sorrykayla 🙂 I also love that someone will be telling me what to do which means I don’t have to think about/plan it which leads me into my next point…
  2. Professional Instruction: Making sure you have professionally trained instructors at your studio should be high up on your list when you’re evaluating studio options. The instructors at Pilates Barre are very knowledgeable, friendly, offer exercise modifications for those with injuries, and have killer playlists. Feeling like you can connect with your instructors and trust their expertise is so important.
  3. Group Setting: In the past, I have had mixed experiences with one-on-one training. I’ve had a really negative & discouraging personal trainer and then a very encouraging and warm trainer. But I just don’t think this is the model that works best for me primarily because of cost. The higher cost also limited me from being able to workout more than once or twice a week because, like I said earlier, if I’m left to do my own workout it doesn’t happen! Know thyself, lol. I also think I don’t like having that much attention just on me. In studio classes, there’s a camaraderie that comes along with sweating it out as a whole group. One of my favorite parts about the Pilates Barre studio is that people (women and men!) of all ages, shapes, and sizes workout there. This really makes it feel like such an inclusive and positive experience for me!
  4. Consistency: I think that both ClassPass and StudioHop are amazing, and I loved getting to try new studios when I had memberships with both companies. But I always found myself wanting to go to just one place where I was familiar with the teachers, the parking sitch, etc. When I’m consistent with my exercise, I notice such a massive reduction in my stress that day & week – that’s worth its weight in gold! I’m also able to stay consistent in scheduling my workouts at the beginning of each week with the PilatesBarre phone app. I can stay on track with how many workouts I get in each week. Ease of scheduling is such a key factor when you’re choosing a studio because you’ll want booking your workouts to easily become a weekly habit.
  5. Pricing Bundles & Deals: Most studios will offer discounts for new clients or for auto-renew packages. Each time that I have reached the end of my membership package, I’ll get an email from the PilatesBarre with a great offer on another class package. These deals have been great because I pay a better price (when averaged out per month) for a few months at a time and don’t have to worry about the monthly auto-renew cost which has always stressed me out with other studios. They’re also always running deals on class packages! I know that the expense can be a major deterrent for those considering a studio membership, but if the above reasons also describe you and your needs, definitely consider it as an option. I recommend determining your budget ahead of time and asking about different deals and promotions as well as their policies about cancelling contracts, etc. if you don’t end up loving the studio!

London and Ireland Itinerary + What I Wore

London and Ireland Itinerary + What I Wore 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

It has been such a whirlwind since returning from overseas just a week ago! I wanted to relive the trip a bit today by sharing a London and Ireland itinerary and some of my outfits from the trip. We went for a family friend’s wedding in Ireland and decided to tack on a few days in London to see some other family members.

OUR UNFORGETTABLE LONDON AND IRELAND ITINERARY

LONDON:

travel outfit, london outfit, casual london outfit, touring outfit, fall outfit | London and Ireland Itinerary featured by popular Dallas travel blogger, Never Without Lipstick

What We Did in London:

  • Buckingham Palace: When putting together a London and Ireland itinerary, I feel like it’s almost mandatory to include a trip to the palace when it’s open in the summer. The palace is only open for a few months each summer while the Royal Family is away on holiday, so this is a must see for anybody who’s into the royals or is just obsessed with Prince George and Princess Charlotte like me!
  • Victoria and Albert Museum
  • Kew Gardens: These gardens are gorgeous and it’s definitely a great half-day/day trip option. Bring a picnic basket and wine! The rose garden was my favorite part by far second to the Temperate House. If you’re not afraid of heights, take a walk on the Treetop Walkway for incredible views and photos of the gardens.
  • Kensington Palace (+ Hyde Park, Prince Albert Memorial): Do all three of these together as they’re all within walking distance of each other through Hyde Park. I have yet to go into Kensington Palace but I feel like it’s another key component of a London and Ireland itinerary.

Where We Ate in London:

  • Kricket: SO delicious for lovers of Indian food and affordably priced. Definitely get a reservation!
  • Plum & Spilt Milk: Very sleek atmosphere with really good food at mid-price range. It’s right by King’s Cross Station so very conveniently located!
  • Pimlico Fresh: I’d eat here for breakfast everyday if I could. They make the best avocado toast with smoked salmon and it’s so affordable. Only thing is that it’s very tiny so you have to get there early enough for seats!
  • Chiltern Firehouse: Absolutely incredible food and atmosphere! I’d recommend getting a reservation for dinner here and be warned that it is a bit pricey. This is work including in your London and Ireland itinerary for a special meal.
  • Fortnum & Mason: Maybe one of my favorite parts of the trip! Breakfast was delicious and shopping for tea and biscuits afterward was so fun. Everything in the store is so fancy and English! Make sure to go to the original location in Piccadilly.

Touring Outfit (basically my uniform for the entire trip!): Tee | Crop Flare Jeans (This style runs a bit tighter than my other Madewell skinny jeans. I still went with my normal 27, but they’re not as stretchy as my other pairs.) | Trench (sold out so linking something similar) | Sneakers

ADARE, IRELAND:

What We Did in Ireland:

The wedding was held at Adare Manor, so we got to do some pretty amazing things during our stay! We chose to do falconry when we arrived, and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. The pics make me feel like I was in Harry Potter.

  • Bunratty Castle: If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, this medieval castle will give you all of the GOT vibes. I love going into old homes and castles when I travel to Europe because I love seeing how people lived and how the homes have been preserved over time. This one was especially fun because it was very medieval.

Killarney: We took a day trip to Killarney in our rental car. It was such a gorgeous day trip/drive but consider taking a bus or having a driver/someone experienced with driving on the other side of the road get you there. We had white knuckles driving with my Dad, lol 😉 Sorry, Dad!

  • Muckross House: This was such a cool house to see – Queen Victoria stayed there and they still have her suite setup exactly as it was for her visit.

  • Torc Waterfall: We took the walk along the trail from the Muckross House to the Torc Waterfall. The grounds around Muckross House are so breathtakingly beautiful because you’re in a national park. I recommend just going for a walk, bike ride, bringing a picnic – make a whole day of it.

Where We Ate in Ireland:

  • Blue Door Restaurant: We weren’t able to eat here because we didn’t have a reservation, but it came highly recommended so I’d love to try it if I ever go back.
  • Sean Collins & Sons Bar: We stopped in here the day after the wedding and had delicious pizza and apps! The owner was so incredibly friendly and came over and asked my family about Dallas, the wedding, etc. Everyone in Ireland was truly so kind and welcoming – the main reason I want to go back!

First things first, I’d wear neutral outfits everyday into eternity if my life depended on it. All about that #neutralslife. I’ve realized how important neutrals have been in maturing my style as I’ve entered the working world. A wardrobe based in neutrals provides constant classic outfits that you can mix and match so easily. Investing in quality neutral pieces is never a bad idea for your closet. Choosing neutral hues can give affordable pieces that expensive edge as well!

Basically, neutrals are always a good idea 🙂

FAVORITE PIECES FOR STYLING WINTER NEUTRAL OUTFITS:

While I love the feminine neutrals for spring like blush pink, there’s something special about winter neutrals. I guess it’s the blend of my favorite season and favorite colors that I love! This post is all about the pieces I reach for when styling winter neutral outfits.

TRENCH COAT:

My trench coat is the jack-of-all-trades in my closet. An overachiever if you will. I can always count on it to leave a tailored finish on any look, especially neutral outfits. You can wear a trench in a professional atmosphere but also when you’re on the go. Wear a khaki trench with a white or cream sweater for go-to winter neutral outfits! Mine is from Club Monaco; they have so many trench options. (It’s key to wait for their sales and snag a trench then!)

CREAM SWEATERS:

The best thing about neutrals is that you can wear them with anything, including with other neutrals. It’s always a good idea to have a cream sweater in your closet. My sweater in this post is from my homeland: TJ Maxx. Here’s a similar version! I’ve found quite a few neutral sweaters that I’ve worn relentlessly all season long. There are tons of affordable sweaters at HM this season! I just added this one and this one to the crew.

NEUTRAL WINTER ACCESSORIES:

Whether it’s a scarf, a beret, or a beanie, I want it in a neutral hue, please. When it’s cold you definitely want to be able to wear your scarves, gloves, and hats with every outfit. So pick neutrals! I’ve been loving these chunky scarves and beanies.

CAMEL COAT:

A camel coat falls in the same category as the trench coat; it can do it all. Whether it’s a wrap coat, long wool coat, or shorter car coat, it’ll complete any outfit you’re wearing. Since a camel coat can go with everything, you don’t have to worry about it feeling mismatched with your outfits. I love this blogger’s post about why she always chooses a camel coat!

NUDE PUMPS:

This may be obvious but a pair of nude pumps (& a pair of black pumps) really completes a closet. I adore this pair of pointy-toe pumps because they’re actually comfortable (comes in so many colors!). I also make sure my closet includes pointy-toe booties in a neutral shade for those super cold temps!

All in all, one of the best things about neutrals is mixing them! If you’re new to trying neutral outfits, then I recommend starting with a cream/ivory/white piece as your base. Mix in darker tones for your jacket, pants, or accessories next.

Thanks for reading and I hope these neutral outfits have inspired all of you to embrace #neutralslife! Click here now for more stylish winter trends!

My love for flannels began in college during my attempted “hipster” phase. I found an amazing men’s flannel at Target that introduced me to flannel coziness. A lot of the best flannels are ringing in right under $50 this season. So I just had to share my favorites with you!

OUTFIT IDEAS FOR FLANNELS

Casual Work Outfit:

This $49 flannel may just be the best of the best flannels, in my opinion. I just had to wear it to work the second I got it. It’s oversized and looked great tucked into high-waisted jeans (looked great untucked as well!). I finished off the outfit with my slide-on loafers, but I’ll definitely wear the same thing with ankle booties very soon!

Post-Gym Look/Running Errands:

The best flannels are those that you can wear basically all the time. Throw on a flannel after your workout with your leggings and sneakers. Or this outfit would be perfect for running weekend errands. That way you can look put together if you need to go somewhere other than Target or might run into people to know 🙂

Flare Jean Outfit:

If you’re looking to add some boho flare to your look, pop on a flannel with a pair of flare jeans. It’s an easy way to get a boho vibe without having to get too intense. Wear this look to drinks on Friday or for lunch with friends!

New year, new you? Hmm. If that’s too much pressure, take an easier route by deciding to update your wardrobe essentials for the new year. It’s the perfect time to make your style more personal to you or just up your style game overall!

5 WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

Take a trip:

Well, at least figuratively 🙂 I get some of the best style inspiration when I travel and always find new ways to elevate my wardrobe essentials and closet. But traveling isn’t always the easiest or most affordable! SO…Start gathering outfit inspo from bloggers or accounts that make an update to your style seem effortless and easy. I’m constantly saving pics on Instagram into an ‘Outfits’ folder for future reference and I have an entire board on Pinterest! Gathering inspiration is one of the easiest (& cheapest) ways to update your style for the new year. Search London or Paris street style to get that international inspo.

Lock down your wardrobe essentials’ ideal color palette:

Or at least your color palette for 2018! I’m a lover of neutrals because they’re easy to style and always classic. Sticking to a color palette of 5-7 colors will make your wardrobe essentials more distinct in 2018. This’ll also help you narrow things down while you’re shopping. My “colors” are white, black, cream, tan, blush pink, and blue (denim), and the occasional pop of red!

Add a feminine detail to your wardrobe essentials:

I’ve always centered my style around tailored accents more so than feminine details. But feminine touches like bows and ruffles are going to be making a big statement this season. All of a sudden I’m loving a bow here and a scallop hem there! Feminine tailoring or accents are very classic at their core, so that makes them easy to add to outfits to update your style. I always love to soften an edgier outfit with a pastel hue or ruffled sweater!

Add a new accessory to your wardrobe essentials:

A new accessory can be a low-risk investment in order to update your wardrobe essentials in 2018. I’m so glad I went for this beret for a little style refresh. It’s chic and now it’s actually cold enough outside to wear it! That’ll make it easier to incorporate it into more outfits. Consider a trending statement piece of jewelry (hoop earrings, anyone?) or a belt to add a new dimension to your wardrobe essentials. I always head to Pinterest for outfit inspo when I up level my accessory game.

Go to the tailor:

Yep, that’s right. I recently took all of my jeans (+ a pair of leggings) to the tailor to get hemmed to ankle length. I kept getting frustrated that the hems of my jeans were covering my boots or half-in, half-out of my shoes. Do you know what I mean?! The worst. There will never be a time that the right tailoring won’t be the best thing to do for your wardrobe essentials. If you have pieces that you love but something about the fit just prevents you from wearing it – go to the tailor! That way you can count on the fit of your staple pieces to be the best foundation for tons of outfits.
