Dupe Deals : Top 10 Designer Dupe Headbands 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

If you follow me on Instagram (join the party here), you’re probably familiar with my “Dupe Deals’ feature on my Insta Stories! After this post was such a success, I decided to start sharing more dupes in all kinds of categories. I always love a look for less moment. Let’s kick off Dupe Deals today with my favorite designer dupe headbands!

I don’t know about you, but I just can’t stand how some of the headbands I love the most are $150 or more! I’ve dug around the interwebs to bring you ten amazing dupe headbands as options for all of your headband dreams. From knotted styles to pearl embellishments, I have you covered!

Lele Sadoughi Pearl Embellished Headband Dupe

Quite a few of these dupe headbands are inspired by Lele Sadoughi’s designs. I love everything she creates but just can’t justify those hefty price tags!

  • I got this dupe from Etsy and love it! I love the girly texture that the pearls add and the tweed fabric is so Chanel. The Etsy shop is in Korea, so the shipping took about 2 weeks – just FYI. I do think you can get expedited shipping which I’ll definitely do if I order something from her again.
  • This $13 dupe is from H&M and comes in cream and black!
  • If you’re not into the knotted version and looking for something more simple, try this thin velvet and pearl choice!

Lele Sadoughi Satin Knot Headband Dupe

The knotted headband might just be the post popular headband style at the moment. I’m so excited to provide some dupe headbands for this style in particular!

  • This $10 option from Target is so comfortable (important with headbands!) and adds such a sleek touch to a look.
  • Obviously you can’t go wrong with a $14 leopard version!
  • How cute is this ribbed version? That hot pink color is probably going right into my cart – a must-have!

Jennifer Behr Headband Dupes

I have to reiterate my statement from above when it comes to Jennifer Behr as well. Her pieces are truly gorgeous and the prices match that level of quality and detail. But if you’re not looking to splurge, I think that the dupes below make great choices.

  • I think that this dupe more closely resembles this Jennifer Behr braided satin version, but it comes in a little higher at $82. It’s the perfect style for an event or special occasion, so might be worth it – and still less than $295 for the real deal! For a similar dupe for less, try this one for $19.

Hermes Head Scarf Dupe

The Hermes twilly scarves might just be the rare items you can find for under $200 at such a luxury retailer. While a twilly could be a very multi-purpose purchase (headband, hair tie, or addition to your purse or wrist), you can easily achieve the same look for much less with this set of Hermes-inspired scarves. I also love this $10 option!

I hope you loved this first installment of Dupe Deals on the blog all about dupe headbands! There won’t be a Dupe Deals blog post every week, but if you subscribe to my emails, you’ll receive exclusive Dupe Deals emails right to your inbox every week even when there’s not a post up. Subscribe and join the endless look for less fun! Is there a category of dupes you’d like for me to cover? Email me or reach out on Insta, and I’ll get a list going 🙂

The 15 Best Hair Accessories for Long Hair

The 15 Best Hair Accessories for Long Hair 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Hair accessories are having a BIG moment right now. It’s a full-on Blair Waldorf frenzy, and I’m very here for it. All of my favorite retailers are getting in on the trend, too! My mom always had me in a massive bow when I was little, so the hair accessory game and I have some major history. I can also remember wearing a headband of some sort almost every day in middle school! The styles right now add an easy & glam touch to your hair for work. Or they can just add a little something extra to an outfit to make it feel more put together.

Today I’m sharing fifteen of the best hair accessories for long hair (or short hair!) to add into your daily hair wardrobe.

Hair accessories are an efficient and affordable way to speed up getting ready in the morning or going out and about. They’re also perfect for extending your second and third-day hair. (Yes, I’m insinuating that they can cover up any remaining bits of greasy sheen your dry shampoo didn’t catch, lol) All of these hair accessories would also be small and easy enough to pack for upcoming spring/summer getaways. Such a cute way to keep your hair up at the beach or pool without sacrificing style!

CUTE & AFFORDABLE HAIR ACCESSORIES FOR LONG HAIR

Headbands

I found this knotted headband at Target, and it’s now on sale for $8.50. I put my hair in a low middle part bun and pop this on for a chic hair statement! It’s also cute to add in over second-day curls.

My friend got this set of velvet knotted headbands from Amazon, and they’re SO cute. She wore the black velvet one to dinner this weekend with jeans, a tee, and a bomber. It added the perfect feminine touch to a cool, edgy outfit!

If you really want to go for a statement-maker, try a bit bigger of a headband with a twist detail like this one.

We can’t forget a Blair Waldorf classic: a padded velvet headband for the win! Or an animal print option here

Clips

The bigger the clip the better seems to be the mood around this hair accessory…

These oversized, pearl-embellished clips are $15 on Amazon and look very bold and feminine for a hair down kind of day.

Simple and sleek metallic clips are the look I gravitate towards. This rounded gold clip pops over a ponytail holder easily and looks so sharp for work or a dinner out!

You know when you pull a ponytail halfway through to make a bun? Well, you can spice that up by clipping the leftover hair beneath the bun with a big gold clip like one in this set! Find inspo here.

Bows

Again, I am no stranger to bows. I love clipping a satin bow in with a low ponytail! It’s also cute to “dress up” a half up, half down look.

This bow scrunchie kind of does all the work for you. Since it has a pre-tied bow, you can just slip it on over a bun or pony, and you’re good to go!

Scarves

Now I am no pro when it comes to using scarves in my hair. But with this scarf scrunchie, I don’t have to be! It comes in lots of color options and is only $12.

One of my favorite bloggers, Jess Kirby, has a great tutorial on how to tie a scarf into your hair! I think one of the key tricks is getting thinner, smaller scarves that are easy to fold up to tie around a ponytail or bun.

Scrunchies

I’m really into bunny ear scrunchies because you have the added benefit of the bow (“bunny ears”) which makes it *ever so slightly* more formal. Throw one over a low bun, top knot, or high pony!

I always love Liberty London’s gorgeous floral fabrics, and J.Crew has a whole line of scrunchies in their patterns!

Leopard is also having a huge moment right now so this leopard bunny ear scrunchie had to make it on the best hair accessories for long hair list.

This set of regular leopard scrunchies is also an under $10 fave.

Where do you stand on hair accessories? Into it, not into it?

I know that I’ve had so much fun styling the accessories that I’ve bought over the past couple of months. The level of statement you want to make is really up to you since there are so many options! Go for bold hues and details or simple, sleek clips. Hair accessories are an incredibly easy way for everybody to spice up their daily hairstyles. You don’t need to know any special skills or braiding techniques etc.

Summer is approaching and that means that it’s time to master those mermaid waves! I love to curl my hair, but the honest truth is that I’m super lazy when it comes to putting too much extra effort into my appearance. Most of the time I curl my hair for special occasions, blog shoots, or when I am really feeling ambitious. When I do decide to curl my hair, it’s important that my routine is quick and easy and gives me the results I’m looking for. I’ve tried many, many irons and have narrowed it down to a few that I think allow me to get the best waves.

Keep reading to see my review on these irons and for my step by step beach waves tutorial!

T3 WHIRL TRIO:

This iron is currently on sale for 25% off! Looking for more Black Friday deals? Head here for more sale scores!

First off, I have to say that this iron is so pretty. I know that’s not the most important thing BUT those rose gold details just get me! Anyway…this iron is impressive in that it comes with three different iron attachments for three different styles of waves: defined tight waves, loose beach waves, or full-body curls. I use the mid-size iron to get loose beach waves.

T3 Whirl Trio Review

T3 Whirl Trio Pros:

I love that this iron comes with three different barrels for me to choose from. This iron definitely gets me the beachwaves that I’m looking for. The curls are very smooth and perfectly loose for the beachy look. Make sure to use a strong hold hairspray and scrunch it in to hold those waves all day!

T3 Whirl Trio Cons:

This iron is incredibly nice and performs well but not worth the hefty price tag. I purchased it for about $100 on eBay because there was no way I was looking to purchase it at full price – I highly recommend doing this to save money on these tools! Just make sure that the iron is new in an unopened box or new but that it’s been tested to see if it works (read product descriptions carefully!). I’ve also noticed that my hair will slide along the barrel and I’ll have to rewrap my hair a couple times before I’m actually curling it.

Step by Step Beach Waves Tutorial Using the T3 Whirl Trio:

  1. Separate your hair on both sides into two layers: a lower and an upper layer.
  2. Start with 1-inch pieces of hair on the lower level.
  3. Take the iron and angle it downward along the side of your head.
  4. Set the iron about mid-way down the piece of hair.
  5. Wrap the piece of hair around the iron barrel in the direction away from your face. (If you’re curling hair on the left side of your face, wrap the hair in the direction towards the back of your head.)
  6. Wrap almost the entire piece but hold out the last inch or so of your hair away from the iron.
  7. Hold the piece on the iron for 15 seconds.
  8. Take your hand and cup the bottom of the iron to catch the piece of hair as it comes off of the iron. Scrunch the warm piece of hair to really hold that curl.
  9. Once you’ve finished both the upper and lower levels of curling, spray everything!
  10. After you’ve curled all of your hair, spray again. Wait 30 seconds – 1 minute and then run your fingers or a wide-toothed comb through your curls to loosen them to their beachiest state.

BEACHWAVER S1:

Beachwaver S1 Pros:

I’m convinced that there isn’t an easier or faster way to curl your hair than with the Beachwaver. That’s what makes this iron worth its price tag! But I also found this iron on eBay from a seller that had opened the box just to ensure that the iron worked properly, and I have had no problems with it! The Beachwaver was totally new to me, so I had to watch some of their YouTube tutorials on how to use it. Because it curls your hair for you, you’re looking at about a 10-15 minute commitment tops (depending on your hair type) for your hair.

Beachwaver S1 Cons:

I’ve found that when I use this iron as a wand I actually get the curls that I like the best and that last at least until the next day which is RARE for my hair. This isn’t technically a con, but I’m listing it here because I’m using the iron in a way that’s different from its intended use. I love using it either way, but if you do decide to try this iron try out these two different methods and let me know what you think!

Step by Step Beach Waves Tutorial using the Beachwaver S1:

  1. Make sure you press the HOME button to make sure the rotator is ready to curl perfectly.
  2. Hold the curling iron parallel to the side of your head.
  3. Take a 1-inch piece of hair and clamp in the piece of hair. If you have long hair, let about an inch of hair hang out of the clamp to get the looser beach wave look.
  4. If you’re curling your hair on the left side, press the left arrow button to start curling the piece. (Vice versa for the right side)
  5. Curl the piece up about mid-way up the strand and hold for 10-12 seconds.
  6. Loosen the clamp and pull the iron directly down.
  7. Scrunch hairspray into your curls!

HOT TOOLS 1-INCH CURLING IRON:

This iron isn’t pictured, but it has been my go-to for years (especially my high school years when I was desperate to have Taylor Swift curls, L O L). You can grab it at Ulta or Amazon for a great price. This iron will give you long-lasting curls that can even stick around for a couple of days after to keep your waves going. I will say that this iron can get dangerously hot (which is necessary to get the curls) and that it doesn’t make the smoothest, most gentle beach waves.

How to Care For and Grow Long Hair

How to Care For and Grow Long Hair 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Caring For and Growing Long Hair/Never Without Lipstick/long hair, long hair care, long hair tutorial, long hair styles

Throughout the years, I have gone through many changes with my hair. I’ve worn it long, short, super long, highlighted, ombre, and most recently, I had bangs! But despite all the changes, I always feel the most like myself when I have long hair. And long hair means more hair, so there are certain tips and tricks that I recommend for those of you with long hair and those trying to grow your hair long.

Tips for Caring for Long Hair:

  • Use a wet-hair brush after a shower to prevent breakage
  • Try to air-dry your hair as much as possible: Heat inevitably can bring damage to our hair, so if I can, I let my hair air dry after showers
  • Wash every other day:really wish I was one of those people who could curl my hair at the beginning of the week and have it last until the end. But unfortunately, I can only go every other day without washing! In the meantime if things get a little greasy, I can’t go without my Batiste dry shampoo. I spray it around my part and under the layers around my part, and then I scrunch it in with my fingers before brushing it through! I feel like I’m really getting it in there when I apply it that way.
  • Make Moroccan oil your new BFF: I used to use this stuff religiously in high school and the beginning of college, and boy, without it I have noticed so many negative differences in my hair! I recommend running it through your hair and the ends after one or two showers a week to keep your hair feeling very nourished and hydrated. I don’t recommend applying it if you’re about to style your hair because I noticed it made my hair a bit too heavy to hold a good curl.

Tips for Growing Long Hair:

  • Take Biotin: I know this seems obvious but it’s important to take the right amount of biotin to ensure fast growth. I am really trying to grow my bangs out (it is THE most painful process ever) and am taking 5000 mcg of biotin every day or every other day to get those babies growin’.
  • Get regular hair trims: This may seem counterintuitive when you’re trying to grow your hair, but these trims clear out the yucky hair preventing more growth.
  • Wear your hair down as often as you can: When hair is pulled up into a ponytail or bun too often, this can prevent your hair from growing. Definitely don’t sleep with your hair up! I really have noticed that this is true in trying to grow hair out. I’ve started pinning back my bangs whenever I wear a ponytail or bun instead of pulling them up into my hair to make sure they have some breathing room to grow.
  • Use Mane & Tail shampoo/conditioner: Okay, I haven’t tried this myself, but I have had numerous friends swear by it for hair growth. I seriously think I’m going to run out to CVS today and grab some and just wash my bangs with it, ha!
