The 15 Best Hair Accessories for Long Hair

The 15 Best Hair Accessories for Long Hair 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Hair accessories are having a BIG moment right now. It’s a full-on Blair Waldorf frenzy, and I’m very here for it. All of my favorite retailers are getting in on the trend, too! My mom always had me in a massive bow when I was little, so the hair accessory game and I have some major history. I can also remember wearing a headband of some sort almost every day in middle school! The styles right now add an easy & glam touch to your hair for work. Or they can just add a little something extra to an outfit to make it feel more put together.

Today I’m sharing fifteen of the best hair accessories for long hair (or short hair!) to add into your daily hair wardrobe.

Hair accessories are an efficient and affordable way to speed up getting ready in the morning or going out and about. They’re also perfect for extending your second and third-day hair. (Yes, I’m insinuating that they can cover up any remaining bits of greasy sheen your dry shampoo didn’t catch, lol) All of these hair accessories would also be small and easy enough to pack for upcoming spring/summer getaways. Such a cute way to keep your hair up at the beach or pool without sacrificing style!

CUTE & AFFORDABLE HAIR ACCESSORIES FOR LONG HAIR

Headbands

I found this knotted headband at Target, and it’s now on sale for $8.50. I put my hair in a low middle part bun and pop this on for a chic hair statement! It’s also cute to add in over second-day curls.

My friend got this set of velvet knotted headbands from Amazon, and they’re SO cute. She wore the black velvet one to dinner this weekend with jeans, a tee, and a bomber. It added the perfect feminine touch to a cool, edgy outfit!

If you really want to go for a statement-maker, try a bit bigger of a headband with a twist detail like this one.

We can’t forget a Blair Waldorf classic: a padded velvet headband for the win! Or an animal print option here

Clips

The bigger the clip the better seems to be the mood around this hair accessory…

These oversized, pearl-embellished clips are $15 on Amazon and look very bold and feminine for a hair down kind of day.

Simple and sleek metallic clips are the look I gravitate towards. This rounded gold clip pops over a ponytail holder easily and looks so sharp for work or a dinner out!

You know when you pull a ponytail halfway through to make a bun? Well, you can spice that up by clipping the leftover hair beneath the bun with a big gold clip like one in this set! Find inspo here.

Bows

Again, I am no stranger to bows. I love clipping a satin bow in with a low ponytail! It’s also cute to “dress up” a half up, half down look.

This bow scrunchie kind of does all the work for you. Since it has a pre-tied bow, you can just slip it on over a bun or pony, and you’re good to go!

Scarves

Now I am no pro when it comes to using scarves in my hair. But with this scarf scrunchie, I don’t have to be! It comes in lots of color options and is only $12.

One of my favorite bloggers, Jess Kirby, has a great tutorial on how to tie a scarf into your hair! I think one of the key tricks is getting thinner, smaller scarves that are easy to fold up to tie around a ponytail or bun.

Scrunchies

I’m really into bunny ear scrunchies because you have the added benefit of the bow (“bunny ears”) which makes it *ever so slightly* more formal. Throw one over a low bun, top knot, or high pony!

I always love Liberty London’s gorgeous floral fabrics, and J.Crew has a whole line of scrunchies in their patterns!

Leopard is also having a huge moment right now so this leopard bunny ear scrunchie had to make it on the best hair accessories for long hair list.

This set of regular leopard scrunchies is also an under $10 fave.

Where do you stand on hair accessories? Into it, not into it?

I know that I’ve had so much fun styling the accessories that I’ve bought over the past couple of months. The level of statement you want to make is really up to you since there are so many options! Go for bold hues and details or simple, sleek clips. Hair accessories are an incredibly easy way for everybody to spice up their daily hairstyles. You don’t need to know any special skills or braiding techniques etc.

How to Treat Hormonal Acne (Plus a Skincare Schedule Template)

How to Treat Hormonal Acne (Plus a Skincare Schedule Template) 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

How to treat hormonal acne: such a loaded question! It’s something that I’ve struggled with for a long, long time. And it has taken years and years to find treatments that have made a noticeable difference. I’ve been on numerous antibiotics, tried all the creams, read different studies and articles etc. While I don’t have all of the answers, I do know much more about hormonal acne, its causes, and some techniques, products, and professionals that have really helped me along this journey. I wanted to share all of this knowledge with you in today’s blog post; it’s a long one but packed with info!

11 Tips for How to Treat Hormonal Acne

#1: Have Your Hormones Checked Out

Surprise! We’re talking about how to treat hormonal acne so, of course, I’m gonna mention hormones! Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. If you’re noticing major breakouts or cysts popping up around your periods, definitely talk to your doctor about it. You could have a hormonal imbalance that’s causing those breakouts. Your doctor might recommend conducting some bloodwork to see what’s going on hormonally for you. This info can provide lots of answers when it comes to treatment of hormonal acne! That bloodwork can also determine the right form of birth control or best pill for you if that’s the route (or one of the steps) you decide to take to treat your hormonal breakouts. If you really want to dig into it, consult an endocrinologist!

#2: Consult a Dermatologist

Next, I recommend consulting a professional that knows all about skin. They went through many years of school just learning about it! A dermatologist will be able to tell you how to treat hormonal acne from a medical standpoint whether that’s through topicals or medication. Nine times out of ten I try to avoid being on antibiotics of any sort, but when it comes to hormonal, cystic acne, I feel a bit differently.

Hormonal acne or cysts are painful and not to mention unsightly. They’re some of the hardest zits to cover with makeup! They can arise from your body’s over-sensitivity to bacteria. Antibiotics help to fight that bacteria and calm your skin’s overreaction. I wouldn’t use this as a long-term solution, but I would recommend considering an antibiotic until your skin has calmed down. (Or ask your derm about Spiranolactone!) I have the same perspective when it comes to cortisone injections of cysts. There are just some that are so awful they MUST be injected!

The topical creams and ointments that a dermatologist prescribes can be helpful in overturning your skin cells faster and drying up the surface of those pesky cysts. I do have to emphasize drying here. Prescribed topicals have higher percentages of chemicals in them, so they are much stronger than your average over-the-counter option. To avoid over-drying your skin (read: extra oiliness as a result), start by applying your topical once a day every other day.

#3: Find a Trusted Esthetician

One of the best things that have happened to me on this journey was finding Becky Dyke at SkinZoneRX. She is such a wealth of knowledge about skin, causes behind breakouts, and recommending products and treatments to help with my acne. Becky helped me construct a regular skincare schedule that I have stuck to 95% religiously (some nights I get lazy – sorry Becky! But I always take my makeup off!). She walked through each step and product to explain to me what each product does and why it’s important in my routine. Something that I love about Becky is that she asks what products you’re currently using and tells you whether to keep using what you have or to consider an alternative. She’s not going to push an entirely new and expensive skin care regimen on you which I really appreciate! It’s also not a billion steps that are a pain to remember or exhausting to apply.

I now know so much more about my skin, why it behaves the way it does, and what products to use to treat my breakouts. It’s all about turning over those skin cells baby! Think retinol and salicylic or glycolic toners and face washes. If you’re in the DFW area, I highly recommend going to see Becky whether you have issues with your skin or not. Tell her I sent you!

Finding a trusted esthetician has been monumental for me in learning more about how to treat hormonal acne. You can use the weekly planning template I shared in this post to plan out your skincare routine! I’ve made a few recommendations on there based off of what I’ve learned from Becky 🙂

#4: IPL Laser Treatments

I started going to Becky because I wanted to address what I thought was scarring from my acne. She explained to me that what I was experiencing was actually acne staining. Because of the olive undertones of my skin, red or purple stains stay behind long after my acne has subsided. And one of the best ways to combat this is through IPL laser treatments. This laser speeds up the skin’s healing cycle and overturns that staining more powerfully and quickly. I’ve noticed amazing results from these treatments. They are an investment, so this is something I’d recommend further down the line once you’ve gotten your breakouts under more control.

#5: Vitamin C Supplements

This was another suggestion from Becky! Vitamin C strengthens your immune system which is huge when it comes to combatting hormonal acne breakouts. This will strengthen your body’s reaction to bacteria and hopefully reduce the amount of hormonal acne or cysts you see. I have been taking two Vitamin C pills each day for a few weeks and can see a noticeable difference in my skin. Everything seemed to calm down and redness wasn’t so intense.

#6: Sulfur Mask

I read about this mask on Into the Gloss quite awhile back. It has now become my go-to for shrinking cysts. I’d consider it essential in a how to treat hormonal acne arsenal! To be honest, I lather it onto areas that are prone to cysts or breakouts – primarily my T-zone. I’ll usually leave it on for at least 10 mins and if things are really bad I’ll even sleep with it on! During a breakout, I’ll try to use this mask every night or every other night to dry things up. This mask has even helped some smaller cysts develop a white head!

#7: Spot Treatment:

  • Acne Spot Stickers: When a pimple finally rises to a white head, pop one of these stickers on it overnight to dry it up. This will prevent you from scarring or staining your skin when trying to pop the pimple. These have been a life-saver for me because I am SO BAD about picking at my skin. It’s maybe one of my worst habits…
  • Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: Use this in the same way as the acne spots! There’s usually not a night that goes by when I don’t have this on at least one zit. The most important thing I can say about it is that IT WORKS.
  • Liquigel Ibuprofen: Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. Acne and cysts are inflammation surfacing on your skin. When I feel cysts coming up or have a particularly inflamed part of my face, I’ll cut open a liquigel and dab it onto my skin. It calms everything down and reduces the size of a cyst!

#8: Avoid Eating Dairy (and sugar…)

Trust me. I’m groaning and rolling my eyes as I write this. Such an inconvenient truth! But when I have been really focused on eating a clean, plant-based diet, I have noticed big changes in my skin. I once did a 21-day sugar detox and my skin was 98% CLEAR. I recommend starting with eliminating as much dairy as you can. Dairy has been proven to cause acne! There’s science behind it. If I go too hard on the cheese, I can expect at least 2 pimples to pop up the next day.

#9: Drink Mint Tea

This one *could* be an old wive’s tale, but it’s still worth mentioning. Try drinking spearmint or mint tea every day. It’s refreshing and packed with antioxidants to fortify your skin against bacteria. This won’t be a one-and-done solution or clear anything up overnight. But it is a good tactic to implement to combat your hormonal or cystic acne over time.

#10: Clean Up Your Makeup

Have you read my post about how to switch over to a clean beauty routine? You might want to go read it now if you haven’t! The FDA doesn’t have nearly as stringent requirements on what chemicals can be included in makeup as it should. Other countries are way more intense! The ingredients used in drugstore or big name makeup brands can have extremely negative effects on not only your skin but, more importantly, your whole body! Okay, off my soapbox, back to hormonal acne. As I mentioned before, hormonal acne and cysts pop up from a reaction to bacteria. By slowly changing your beauty products over to clean alternatives, you can start using things that are healthier for your skin and won’t clog your pores and create a breeding ground for more pimples.

A great place to start on this journey would be at Credo. It’s a 100% clean beauty retailer. Every product they offer has undergone rigorous scrutiny to be sold on their shelves. You can buy with confidence from them! They can help you switch over your products by finding clean beauty equivalents to what you’re currently using. And they’ll reward you for bringing in your empty containers of “dirty” or clean beauty products!

#11: Stress Management

Last but certainly not least, manage that stress, girl. SO much easier said than done. When we get stressed our bodies produce cortisol which then produces, you guessed it, pimples! There are so many ways to manage your stress, so find one that works best for you. Start by thinking about what situations get you the most stressed. Is it work-related? Could it be solved with time management? Ask yourself these questions, and I hope you’ll find a way to better manage your stress. I am so far from being an expert in this realm. *Please leave recommendations* But I do know that having a day planner, making a daily to-do list, and a task-management program (Trello) for work helps reduce my stress immensely. But exercise, going for walks, and reading are also other ways I combat getting over-stressed!

That’s all I have on how to treat hormonal acne…for now. I will continue to update this post on how to treat hormonal acne with any new findings or insights! You can always find my skincare and beauty products linked here.

If any of you struggle with hormonal acne, what are some of the techniques you’ve used to treat it? Let me know via DM on Insta or email me. I’d love to hear what you’ve tried and learned!

Ten out of Ten: Work to Weekend Clothing

10 Winter Work to Weekend Clothing Outfit Ideas

10 Winter Work to Weekend Clothing Outfit Ideas 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Welcome to the very first Ten out of Ten! I’m so excited to be introducing all of you to this new monthly series that I dreamt up over the holidays. I really got to thinking about creating helpful and actionable content for my readers, so I decided to style TEN outfits a month to serve YOUR needs. Next month, I’ll ask y’all to submit your votes to me via DM or email about what you’d like to see on the next Ten out of Ten!

Work to weekend clothing for winter featured by top US fashion blog, Never Without Lipstick

A lot of you ask me about how to get the most out of your wardrobe and which pieces are essential for both work and the weekends. So today’s Ten out of Ten is all about work to weekend clothing: how to style it, the most versatile pieces, and more! When it comes to work to weekend clothing, there’s really no reason to have two separate wardrobes. It all comes down to rethinking some of your favorite work outfits in terms of the weekend and vice versa. (Of course, there will be pieces that just don’t work for both – and that’s okay!) Think about how some of your wardrobe staples can bridge the gap. How could you style your favorite work blazer for a weekend dinner? What could you wear a patterned sweater with for the office? Solidifying your work to weekend clothing will become a lot easier once you start asking yourself questions in that frame of mind!

10 Work to Weekend Outfits:

OUTFIT 1 | WORK

When I shop or get dressed, I aim to think in terms of outfits instead of about the individual piece of clothing I’m wanting to wear. I think about where I’m headed (the office, brunch, a night out, etc.) and the overall look and level of comfort I’m going wanting. That’s when I start to realize that the white turtleneck tunic I’ve worn to work that week with my beloved Spanx leggings would be perfect with suede knee-high boots for the weekend!

Designer Dupes on Amazon: The Best of the Best

Designer Dupes on Amazon: The Best of the Best 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Do y’all get the Amazon carousel ads on Insta and swipe through all of the items?! It gets me every.dang.time whether it’s for clothes, kitchen appliances, or home decor! I just have to see what kind of deals are out there and which brands I haven’t discovered yet. As a result of all that ad swiping and additional digging, I’ve now developed a pretty solid list of, in my opinion, some of the best designer dupes on Amazon. I’ve purchased some of these designer dupes so I can speak to their quality and similarity to the real deal. I’m also an avid reader of product reviews, so you better believe I’ve read those for the items I haven’t purchased to get more insight.

If you’ve been reading Never Without Lipstick for a while, you probably know that my shopping philosophy is to shop smart. Invest in classic, high-quality wardrobe staples and buy trendier items under the $100 price point. All of that to say that I do appreciate investing in real designer items when I know how much I’ll use them and how timeless the style or design is. But there are some designer items that go through a trendy period and it just makes more sense to spend less on a great lookalike item instead. That’s what guided my selection for these designer dupes on Amazon list!

Keep reading to see the deals you can score on amazing Amazon dupes for some of the hottest designer items right now…

designer dupes on amazon, valentino rockstud dupes, stuart weitzman dupes, goyard tote dupe, hermes clic clac dupe, gucci belt dupe, designer dupes fashion, designer dupes bags, designer dupes shoes, designer dupes jewelry, chloe susannah bootie dupes | Best Designer Dupes on Amazon featured by top Dallas fashion blog, Never Without Lipstick

The Best Designer Dupes on Amazon:

  • Valentino Rockstud Pump Dupe: Kaitlyn Pan was one of the first brands I came across when searching for designer dupes on Amazon. I was amazed at how many designer dupe shoe options were available from this brand and all of the rave reviews. These pumps are a very good dupe of the real Valentino Rockstud pumps (I owned a pair of the real ones and compared!). They’re genuine leather, made in tons of color options, and the studs are a dead match for the Valentino ones!
  • Valentino Rockstud Sandal Dupe: I’ve got my eye on these dupes for the summer. I’d be wearing them with anything and everything!
  • Stuart Weitzman Lowland Dupes: I mentioned these boots on my Insta story a while back. Another winner from Kaitlyn Pan! Saving over $700 to get an eerily similar pair of boots? Done. Do beware that these OTK boots are pretty fitted through the leg so that they stay up. I’m only able to wear mine with skirts and dresses, not over jeans or leggings. Just something to consider before buying! Kaitlyn Pan also has dupes for the Stuart Weitzman Hiline and Tieland boots.
  • Chloe Susannah Bootie Dupes: These booties are currently on their way to me, so I will immediately update all of you once they arrive. I looked through a lot of different brands offering similar booties, but this pair seemed to be the highest quality based on the reviews. Not to mention the wider range of color selection!
  • Goyard Card Holder Dupe: This card holder has been selling so much on NWL! It’s so convenient to keep all of my cards in one small, easily transported place. I can throw it into any size bag and it never weighs me down like a traditional size wallet did! The Goyard print isn’t hard to replicate especially on such a small item. It’s genuine leather and I’ve had many people think that it was real! It’s always fun to surprise people with the fact that it’s only $20 on Amazon 🙂
  • Hermes Clic-Clic ‘H’ Bracelet Dupe: This is another item that really isn’t hard to replicate and could be mistaken for the real deal so easily. Or if you do have the real version, consider buying this bracelet in the same color. You won’t be devastated if you lose it or it (God forbid) gets stolen when you’re traveling!
  • Chloe Nile Bag Dupe
  • Goyard Tote Dupe: This tote would be perfect for work or travel! Such a throw-everything-in-and-go option. I’d also love to get this clutch in the large size to use as a laptop case!
  • Hermes Oran Sandal Dupe: These sandals in white are also on my spring/summer wishlist. This is one of the best dupes of this sandal that I have seen based on how the “H” looks. This is one of the designer dupes on Amazon I’d recommend adding to your wishlist now! Check back in as we get into spring for more sizes to become available.
  • Celine Square Sunglasses Dupe
  • Gucci Fanny Pack Dupe: This is a great example of what I was talking about above. The Gucci fanny packs are SO cute, but I don’t see any reason to spend upwards of $500 on one! Better to get the same idea for much, much less with this dupe.
  • Gucci Belt Dupe: Make sure to carefully read the sizing before ordering!
  • Celine Belt Bag Dupe
  • Hermes ‘H’ Belt Dupe
  • Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Wallet Dupe
  • Hermes ‘H’ Blanket Dupe: What a classic gorgeous staple for your home! And for MUCH less – I think you’re saving in the thousands here. I’d love it on my couch or at the foot of my bed.

Have you discovered any other great designer dupes on Amazon? Let me know in the comments below or over on Instagram, and I’ll be sure to check them out and share!

My 2019 Word of the Year & Weekly Planning Template

My 2019 Word of the Year & Weekly Planning Template 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Happy New Year, lovies! I always love the fresh start we get in January because I spend lots of time writing lists and planning goals for the year. Who else’s Type A tendencies are flaring right now?! Right there with ya. Anyway…I decided to go with a word of the year this year for my “resolution” and this word including me creating a weekly planning template that I’m sharing with y’all! So I know you’re wondering, “what’s your word?” Drum roll please…DISCIPLINE.

Top Dallas life and style blog, Never Without Lipstick shares the Weekly Planning Template they use to stay on top of things.

That may initially sound like a bit of an intense or ~scary~ word of the year but that’s not how I’m thinking of it! I want to be more disciplined when it comes to the blog, my weekly skincare, apartment chores, exercise, etc. When I have a routine to follow, I’m more productive and more likely to make things happen. That’s why I set up this weekly planning template to lay out what I want to achieve each week and to stay on track. I also included an Other section on the weekly planning template because life happens, right? There will be some weeks that I don’t exercise at the same time one day or grocery shop on Sunday and not Saturday, etc.

If you’re also looking to build a weekly or daily routine, feel free to use this weekly planning template. I pre-filled each day with different categories, but you can switch those out to fit your needs! Just copy and paste the weekly planning template into your Google Drive, a Word Doc, or Notes on your phone – you name it! We’re all in this together (and yes, I’m mentally envisioning Zac Efron after writing that 😉 ).

My Other 2019 Resolutions:

  • Stick to and maintain the schedule I’ve made in my weekly planning template
  • Get laser hair removal
  • Change all of my hangers to the same color velvet hanger
  • Read at least 1 book a month (taking recommendations – comment below!)
  • Take riding lessons again (I rode horses for 10 years of my life and miss riding SO much!)
  • Take weekly meditative yoga classes
  • Travel Wish List: Bahamas, New York, and Paris

What are your resolutions or plans? Or do you have a word of the year? I want to know – share with me in the comments below!

10 Best Last-Minute Stocking Stuffers Ideas for Her

10 Best Last-Minute Stocking Stuffers Ideas for Her 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Stocking stuffers are always the final touch when it comes to your holiday shopping. I know dumping out my stocking and seeing what goodies are inside is one of my favorite parts of Christmas day! When it comes to stocking stuffers for her, things can easily be a hit or miss. So here are 10 of the best last-minute stocking stuffers ideas for her that will be winners even if you’re down to the last minute! The items in this guide are all available to arrive before Christmas or you can reserve an item online and pick it up in store!

10 Best Last-Minute Stocking Stuffers Ideas for Her featured by top Dallas life and style blog Never Without Lipstick

LAST-MINUTE STOCKING STUFFERS IDEAS FOR HER

ONE: When I think of what I love to see in my stocking, it always starts with beauty products. That’s why this Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders set made it onto my list! This set includes the glycolic serum I use on nights when I don’t use my retinol to keep my skin cells turning over. It also has Ole Henriksen’s famous Truth Serum for collagen and a daily moisturizer. So much bang for your buck here with well-reviewed products that deliver results for any skin type!

TWO: As the New Year approaches, I’m sure that travel plans are at the top of everyone’s 2019 list. Why not prep your mom, sister, or best friend with a new chic passport cover?! I bought this marble one for my trips to London this year and adored it. It’s easy to get your passport in and out of at TSA and makes for a glam travel statement (and under $12!).

THREE: Something else that I tried to keep in mind with stocking stuffers ideas for her was usefulness and functionality. I know for a fact that any gal will get TONS of use out of a towel turban like this or this. She can throw it on right as she jumps out of the shower. It gets that cold wet hair off of your neck right away! They’re also made of softer towel material that’s gentler on hair and reduces frizz 🙂 I also like to keep it on to pull my hair out of my face until I’m done with my skincare routine at night.

FOUR: There’s no way that your gals don’t need an amazing compact mirror in their bag at all times! I’m dying to get this one that lights up. SO much better than looking into my selfie cam, ha!

FIVE: As I mentioned in this blog post about beauty gift sets from Fresh, a lip scrub set is a winning gift in the colder months. This set from Fresh includes their best-selling sugar lip scrub AND lip balm. You can purchase this one or for multiple stockings online with Nordstrom and go pick it up or have it brought to you curbside!

SIX: Back to the “new year, new me” mindset that’ll surely be coming in, the ladies on your list will most likely have hydration as a top priority for 2019! I know I do! Why not make it fun with an infusion water bottle? She can add different fruits or veggies to her water which will make hitting those goals more delish.

SEVEN: Now that I’ve moved into my own apartment, I fully realize how important it is to have a good set of speakers for entertaining! You don’t have to spend the big bucks either – pop mini Bluetooth speakers into stockings this year.

EIGHT: Whether you know a regular coffee drinker or a lover of hot tea in the mornings, this girly mug is the perfect option to throw in her stocking!

NINE: I have been loving J.Crew’s hair accessory game lately! This embellished bow or this gold bow scrunchie would make amazing stocking stuffers and they’re currently 40% off.

TEN: Last but not least, I had to mention this jewelry organizer again as I did here! It can fit easily into a backpack or large travel tote for travel. AND I love that it zips so that everything stays in place and secure while you’re traveling! But it’s also the best size for a night table or closet to organize go-to, everyday jewelry.

Other easy, last-minute stocking stuffers ideas for her: nail polish, her favorite candy, travel sizes of her favorite beauty or hair products…and there are over 50 more last-minute stocking stuffer ideas here!

Style Blush Pink and Grey Home Decor for Your Apartment

Style Blush Pink and Grey Home Decor for Your Apartment 800 1200 neverwithoutlipstick

Let me introduce my pride and joy, my oasis, my…blush pink and grey apartment.

I carefully planned out her decor during the final few months in my parents’ house, and I’m so proud to share how everything turned out! Initially, I kept gravitating toward very minimalistic, mid-century interiors and inspo. I even started planning out my room and researching decor in that style. But as I kept moving forward I just knew in my gut that it wasn’t me. My interiors style, at its core, is glam, girly, and chic!

So I made the decision to start over and stick to my true style. That’s how I landed on the blush pink and grey color palette with mixed metallic accents!

BLUSH PINK AND GREY ACCENTS:

Nightstand: I saw this nightstand for sale on Facebook and knew that with a fresh coat of paint it would make the BEST piece. It had that industrial glam touch that I needed! The nightstand’s golden hardware also made it easy to bring in gold and silver accents with the decor on top with the jewelry dishes. Cute and functional! The vase is from the Albertson’s floral section. Can you believe?! And of course the PRINTS 🙂 I’m a self-proclaimed Francophile and when my mom recommended I do a print quad I knew that I wanted it to be Parisian-inspired.

Bed: I already had this monogrammed Matouk coverlet from my bed at my parent’s house, but I knew I wanted to add in a headboard. I love the studded accents on the headboard and the texture it brings to the room! For the longest time, I hunted around for the right duvet and none were the right fit. That’s why I went with this quilt from West Elm! It’s simple and the pattern was the only thing that paired well with my coverlet.

When it came to the pillows, I wanted something very simple. I think the fringe pillow and velvet lumbar pillow add depth with their texture. The bed desperately needed a print and the antelope pillowcases were the perfect neutral option! I’m linking to all of the pillows below.

Bookshelf: I had my eyes on a similar bookshelf to the one in my room, but it was way too expensive. When I found this one at Target on sale, I ordered it immediately. A lot of the decor on the shelf just came from items I’d gathered along the way decorating dorm rooms and apartments in college. One of my biggest recommendations to decorate an apartment on a budget is to make the most that you can out of what you already have! Or to base your apartment’s theme off a lot of the decor you might already have. I did add in the faux peonies, sunglasses holder, and the Veuve Clicquot candle. It’s one of my favorite additions to the shelf and it’s from Leo Candle Co. – I’m in LOVE with it!

Desk: Welcome to the Never Without Lipstick headquarters 😉 Blush pink and grey are definitely brand-approved colors for NWL so you better believe they made it onto my desk!

TV Console: This girl loves herself some TV. So having a TV at the foot of my bed was a MUST, and I have absolutely loved it! I call my TV console my “color corner” because it’s the only area where you’ll see colors that veer from my blush pink and grey theme!

Velvet Blazer: A velvet blazer is what came to mind immediately when a friend asked what to wear to a holiday office party at her co-worker’s house. It’s an easy yet festive piece to pop over a business casual blouse-and-slacks look or work dress.

Embellished Jeans: Heading to more of a casual holiday office event or work in a casual office? Add in jeans like these with golden dots or sequins down the side for a festive touch!

Sequin Skirt: This skirt can surprisingly go casual or dressy quite easily. For a casual look, wear a chambray button down. To make it fancy, add pointy toe pumps and an off-the-shoulder sweater!

Plaid Pencil Skirt or Mini Skirt

Silk Tie-Neck Blouse

Wide Leg Velvet Pants: I styled a similar pair of pants in this post last year for a casual office holiday party look, but I love this cropped style for more versatility!

Tartan Hair Tie: Adding this hair tie to your everyday work look might just be the easiest way to get in the spirit for any office holiday sitch. You can wear it in a ponytail, bun, half-up/half-down, and your look will be merry and bright for under $17.

Velvet Wrap Dress: Always a classic option for casual or dressier events. Head here if you’re looking for more holiday party dress options under $100!

Winter White Sweater Dress: I styled this dress in gray here, but the winter white has the perfect wintery touch to it!

Metallic Statement Earrings: Along with the tartan hair tie, statement earrings are one of the easiest ways to get your outfit holiday office party ready. You can truly wear them with anything, BUT a velvet wrap dress would be a great option 🙂
