The first day of spring will be here before we know it! To be honest, I’ve already transitioned my closet. Buh-bye to my coats and turtlenecks! That might’ve been premature but dress for the weather you want, right? The warmer temperatures we’re having in Dallas have me ready to wear my florals, pastels and flowy tops and dresses. Here are the styles that I’ll be reaching for over and over again throughout the spring season in Dallas (and especially to transition into these spring temps)!
WHAT TO WEAR IN DALLAS THIS SPRING: SHOP MY ESSENTIALS:
While it’s still cooler in the mornings and evenings, don’t put away your lighter weight or loose weave knits. These are great layering pieces for the spring – especially for work! Layer a neutral knit over a button down with jeans or a skirt for the perfect spring work look.
Last spring season I experienced my conversion to full-on midi dress obsession. I wanted to wear them to anything and everything…because, well, they work for anything and everything. You can so easily dress them up or down for work, running around or spring events! The mid-length is also great for transitioning into spring when it’s still slightly cooler.
I can guarantee that there will be days when we’re unsure if it’ll be “too soon” or “too much” to wear sandals or espadrilles. That’s when I always reach for my sneaks! Kicks with a midi skirt or midi dress is such a fun, edgy take on very feminine pieces. I think Madewell is a great place to shop for high-quality and affordably-priced sneakers!
Eyelet is the style of the spring and summer without a doubt. I would have a closet full of eyelet for spring and summer if I could. It’s just always right for warmer days! It’s just so inherently feminine which I love. Go for a ruffle sleeved blouse like this! And my heart just about stopped when I saw this top…
Blue jean babies unite! When it comes to pants, I either want to be in jeans or my workout leggings. Comfort is everything to me and denim is so versatile. Since temps aren’t that hot yet it’s still acceptable to be wearing your favorite denim. If you’re looking for something different, might I recommend the straight leg fit? This is a slightly more relaxed take on the skinny jean. I *finally* found a pair that’s both flattering and comfy. I’m curvier on bottom, so straight leg jeans can sometimes be too loose in the thigh and make me look larger. If you have the same body type, I recommend looking for styles that are fitted through the thigh and straight leg through the bottom! This is the pair I bought & loved. Also loved the fit of this pair by AG (I’m a size 28 in both)!
Talk about another classic layering piece! Why not get springy with your blazer? Think blush pinks and mint greens!
If I’m being completely honest I really dread shorts season. They’re just not what’s always flattering on me! I have to look high and low for shorts that are flattering, tailored and make me feel confident. I’ve found that skorts or paperbag waist shorts are the styles that meet those marks for me. This style is great for spring as it gets warmer here in Dallas!
Warm Bright Hues: Hot pink, coral and oranges will be BIG colors for this spring season. Normally, I reach for more subdued hues but this season I want to warm things up with these BRIGHTS! If you’re like me and hesitant when it comes to wearing brighter colors, pick a piece in a fit that you know is flattering on you and that you wear often. I recommend this blouse because its cut is very versatile and you can wear it with lots of other neutral pieces.
Comfortable, go-with-everything flat sandal slides are a must-have for spring and summer. When the temps are warm enough and you’re wanting a break from your sneakers or closed-toe options, slip a pair of these on! I recommend going with a neutral/tan/camel leather.
And there you have it! Whether you live in Dallas or are visiting during the springtime, you can’t go wrong with any of these pieces. I tried to pick styles that are, for the most part, already in your closet or you have something similar. It’s always fun to get new pieces for a new season but not a necessity!
ALSO, I have officially released my spring shop page. This is where I’ll be saving all of my spring wishlist and must-haves; it’ll be updated weekly, so make sure to check it out!
