First things first, I’d wear neutral outfits everyday into eternity if my life depended on it. All about that #neutralslife. I’ve realized how important neutrals have been in maturing my style as I’ve entered the working world. A wardrobe based in neutrals provides constant classic outfits that you can mix and match so easily. Investing in quality neutral pieces is never a bad idea for your closet. Choosing neutral hues can give affordable pieces that expensive edge as well!
Basically, neutrals are always a good idea 🙂
FAVORITE PIECES FOR STYLING WINTER NEUTRAL OUTFITS:
While I love the feminine neutrals for spring like blush pink, there’s something special about winter neutrals. I guess it’s the blend of my favorite season and favorite colors that I love! This post is all about the pieces I reach for when styling winter neutral outfits.
My trench coat is the jack-of-all-trades in my closet. An overachiever if you will. I can always count on it to leave a tailored finish on any look, especially neutral outfits. You can wear a trench in a professional atmosphere but also when you’re on the go. Wear a khaki trench with a white or cream sweater for go-to winter neutral outfits! Mine is from Club Monaco; they have so many trench options. (It’s key to wait for their sales and snag a trench then!)
The best thing about neutrals is that you can wear them with anything, including with other neutrals. It’s always a good idea to have a cream sweater in your closet. My sweater in this post is from my homeland: TJ Maxx. Here’s a similar version! I’ve found quite a few neutral sweaters that I’ve worn relentlessly all season long. There are tons of affordable sweaters at HM this season! I just added this one and this one to the crew.
NEUTRAL WINTER ACCESSORIES:
Whether it’s a scarf, a beret, or a beanie, I want it in a neutral hue, please. When it’s cold you definitely want to be able to wear your scarves, gloves, and hats with every outfit. So pick neutrals! I’ve been loving these chunky scarves and beanies.
A camel coat falls in the same category as the trench coat; it can do it all. Whether it’s a wrap coat, long wool coat, or shorter car coat, it’ll complete any outfit you’re wearing. Since a camel coat can go with everything, you don’t have to worry about it feeling mismatched with your outfits. I love this blogger’s post about why she always chooses a camel coat!
This may be obvious but a pair of nude pumps (& a pair of black pumps) really completes a closet. I adore this pair of pointy-toe pumps because they’re actually comfortable (comes in so many colors!). I also make sure my closet includes pointy-toe booties in a neutral shade for those super cold temps!
All in all, one of the best things about neutrals is mixing them! If you’re new to trying neutral outfits, then I recommend starting with a cream/ivory/white piece as your base. Mix in darker tones for your jacket, pants, or accessories next.
