I didn’t think I’d end up writing this post on New Year’s Eve dresses because the dress in this post was supposed to be the dress I featured in today’s post. The dress I wanted to feature in my holiday dresses under $50 post ended up selling out the day that I shot it. (I posted a very similar one on Instagram last night!) What’re ya gonna do?! But don’t fret! This post is still comin’ to ya full of all the tips you need to look your best. I’ve broken down how to put together your NYE look based off of where you’re going and what look you might be trying to achieve!
CHOOSING YOUR NEW YEAR’S EVE DRESS: A COMPLETE GUIDE
Which style of New Year’s Eve Dress is right for you?
Well, that depends on where you’re going! There are a number of different New Year’s Eve plans you might have, so I tried to break it down into a few of the most common below. I would never want one of you to show up to your event not feeling 100% in your outfit! Figure out which dress is the right fit based on where you’re headed below 🙂
Going out on the Town:
If you’re heading to a friend’s house for the evening but still want to dress up a little, opt for something similar below:
What color should you pick for your New Year’s Eve Dress?
Metallic New Year’s Eve Dress:
This is my favorite option if I must say so myself. A metallic is perfect for the occasion and you can guarantee there will be dresses in silhouettes you always love in these hues. This dress is just like the velvet one I’m wearing but in the perfect metallic!
Blue New Year’s Eve Dress:
I wanted to avoid including red dresses in this post because they felt too Christmas-y to me for a NYE event. You definitely can’t go wrong with the blue dresses below:
Black New Year’s Eve Dress:
First of all, wearing black is literally always okay in my style handbook. It is especially fitting for New Year’s Eve festivities because you want to look sleek (black is also the most slimming color) as you welcome the new year.
Textured New Year’s Eve Dress:
I know this seems like the obvious choice for a New Year’s Eve dress, but it can still be done well. Go for a classic silhouette that you trust to flatter your figure.
A velvet dress can still be the right texture for NYE festivities. It’s a luxe fabric that works perfectly for colder weather holidays!
What accessories should you wear with your New Year’s Eve Dress?
Your New Year’s Eve dress is going to be the statement of your look. Counter balance it with a simplistic and classic pair of statement earrings like these.
I can’t believe that the New Year is coming so soon. It’s always an exciting night that I love getting dressed up for; I hope that these dresses give you some inspiration!
It’s also unbelievable that Christmas will be here in less than two weeks! If you’re still doing last minute shopping, I’d head here for loads of gift ideas.
