Although I do love my luxury pieces, I have to say that I always get a big thrill from finding staple wardrobe pieces that are amazingly affordable. I think that determining the right mixture of these items can really create depth to your taste and style. That’s why I wanted to share how to best incorporate items at both high and low price points all into one outfit for an overall classic look.
When it comes to my style, I primarily make investments in items that I know will last for long periods of time or…like, forever. For me, this mainly means leather goods like shoes, bags, or belts. I recently invested in this Gucci belt because I know for a fact that it will last a lifetime, it’s a classic style, and that I can wear it with an endless amount of things. With this outfit in particular, I found that these studded sandals were a smart investment because the previous pair I had owned lasted for 2+ years. In my opinion, this made the price tag justifiable. When you’re looking to invest in high price point items, it’s important to consider which pieces will be durable, well-made, high quality, and in colors or tones that are versatile to be widely used in your wardrobe.
On the other hand, selecting items at affordable price points doesn’t have to be something you don’t take as seriously! Money is money and it’s important that it is well spent no matter what the price point. I really love to aim for affordability for those pieces that are trending that season. But just because something is trendy doesn’t mean you have to look for it to be dirt cheap! As we all know, trends come back each season or stick around for a couple of years. It’s important to look for quality in trend pieces, so that you can ensure that it’ll for sure last throughout the season. This top from Oak and Vine boutique that I’m wearing was on sale for $36 (regularly $49), and it’s made with such soft fabric that’s comfortable and I can see it lasting for more than one season. Worth it! My denim skirt was $30ish from HM, and I saw it on so many of my friends at school and knew I had to have it because of their rave review. This denim skirt is not really a trend piece because it’ll never go out of style! I bought it in black initially and when I realized how great it was I had to have it in another color. Worth it!
Just make sure to look for the following when shopping for affordable items:
- Design elements – does it match exactly what you’re looking for? If you have an idea in your head of what you want in a piece, don’t compromise! I can’t even count the number of times that I’ve bought a piece for it’s amazing price and ended up realizing that it wasn’t totally what I wanted!
These are the things that I keep in mind when I’m putting together outfits that mix high and low price points. Accent affordable pieces with higher price point items like belts, jewelry, or shoes for a well-rounded, flawless look!
