I am so excited to be sharing this tutorial with y’all today! Doing a cat-eye is a major part of my everyday makeup look and can really make it look like you put effort into your look when you really didn’t. I don’t think I’d be able to do a wing-tip without a pen, but I know that other gals love to use liners that are more like a paint brush. It really comes down to what you think would be easiest for you to use. I just love the pen because I feel like I have the most control with it! I can’t be without my Milani pen to draw the line and my Stila pen to fill in for darker, waterproof color.
Keep reading for my steps to a cat-eye below!
1. Line up the tip of the eyeliner pen with the corner of your eye and angle the tip of the pen a bit upward from there to set up the line of motion to make the dramatic “wing”. This is the step where you can determine how far out you would like your wing to go.
2. Once you’ve set the tip of the pen where you want the “wing” to start, press down lightly and drag the pen downward and about a fourth of the way into your lash line.
3. After securing the wing, continue to drag the pen lightly across the rest of your lash line. I usually dab the pen on its side to get a straighter line.
4. Once you have your cat-eye done, go through with the pen and fill in any gaps, straighten out the line, or make it thicker if you would like. To make a thicker wing, press down the tip and side of the pen when drawing the wing at the beginning. As you pull down, the side of the pen will make a thicker wing on your outer corner.
