The Latest: January (Trends, Buys, Obsessions) 150 150 Never Without Lipstick | Dallas Style Blog

Now that we’re into the new year, so much trend forecasting is happening for Spring – I just had to share the trends that I’m loving! With the temperatures as crazy as they’ve been, we could even get to wearing some of these trends quite soon.

Banker Stripes:

I didn’t really even know about banker stripes until getting to reading about 2017 trends, but I have to say that I’m a fan. They’re vertical, thin, light blue stripes – think a man’s dress shirt but transformed into a super cute shirt dress or blouse. As a girl with curves, I have never been one to reach for horizontal stripes because it enhances me in places I don’t want to be enhanced, LOL! So I’m super into the fact that vertical stripes are  on the scene. Check out this top from Madewell – pair it with a cardigan for now while the temps are chilly.

Single Shoulder Cut-Out:

This trend is going to give the off-the-shoulder a run for its money. This trend will create ensembles that are incredibly chic with that little sexy edge from the cut-out!

White Shirt Dresses:

This has to be the one that I’m most likely to go after first! My closet is nothing without a foundational white button down tunic or shirt dress. You can really dress this trend up or down so easily and even right now in the winter! Why not throw on a pair of black or rust OTK boots/booties with a shirt dress and call it a day?

I also wanted to share with y’all some products or pieces that I’m loving/crushing on this month.

Etsy Initial Necklace:

When it comes to jewelry, I am pretty basic and I go for the delicate. I enjoy purchasing classic pieces that I can wear everyday and that will last longer than just one season. That’s why I decided on this cute initial necklace from Letters by Zoe on Etsy. It’s 14k gold so I know that’ll it’ll last for a long time and won’t tarnish with proper care. It’s also a necklace I can wear everyday and with so many outfits. Not to mention it could be a great layering piece as well with other delicate necklaces! If I do get trendy jewelry, I love to look at Madewell or BaubleBar. Also check out Covet by Stella and Dot for reasonably priced, delicate necklaces that are made with high quality materials. Definitely a great stop to keep in mind when graduations are coming around and you’re wanting to get a close friend or family member something truly timeless.

High-Waisted Jeans:

It has taken me a long (I mean LONG) time to get on the high-waisted jean band wagon. I mean, I had a pair in high school right when the mom jean SNL skit came out about the 9-inch zipper…cringe. But I’m not cringing about them these days! They’re all the rage, haha. I just found this distressed pair at Madewell (they run very true to size – I am always a 28 in all Madewell jeans and it is consistent in all styles) and have worn them 3 or 4 times already! They’re so comfortable and make a tucked-in shirt look supah cute. I also have a long torso, so a lot of times I have to avoid tops because they’re too short BUT, with high-waisted jeans, I can wear shorter tops. If you haven’t considered a pair yet, now is the time!

Lightwash Jean Jacket:

If I were asked to choose only 5 pieces of clothing to live with, I would totally include a denim jacket. They’re so versatile it hurts: with a dress, a button down, a tee, a silky top…the list goes on. I’ve had a darker denim jacket from the J.Crew outlet for the longest time and was ready to change things up with a different color. This one in a lighter wash will transition into Spring so easily! I’m thinking of pairing it with something cheetah print…

White Skinny Jeans:

I’m quickly beginning to include a pair of white skinny jeans into not only my spring and summer staples, but also my winter! I’m constantly reaching for them when putting together everyday outfits. They just add a little something unexpected to a winter look! I have a pair of distressed white jeans, but I’ve found that a non-distressed pair goes so much better with OTK boots or booties. It just makes for a more seamless look! I found these at Nordstrom for under $60 and the fit is amazing! Definitely size down and make sure to read the size chart to double check where you fit!

GLAMboard by GLAMbox:

This thing is GENIUS! I discovered it last week and have been coveting everyone who has one! You can fill in the board with all of your makeup essentials and take it around with you to your sink, your bed, or anywhere where you might be limited in space for doing your makeup. Anyone with a pedestal sink? This is something so perfect for all college girlies who can be limited for primping space!

It may seem like bodysuits are glorified onesies (and maybe they are ;), but, hey, onesies were comfy! And so crazy easy to style. I’m crushing on this one here because it would pair perfectly with my high-waisted jeans and so chic with a leather jacket thrown over my shoulders.

Teddy Blake Eva Handbag:

One of my favorite bloggers did a couple of posts with her Teddy Blake bag, and I was obsessed. For the longest time in her Snapchats and pictures, I was thinking, “Wow, she has a Birkin bag, lucky!.” Little did I know that it was a gorgeously crafted Teddy Blake Eva bag! These bags are all made in Italy out of genuine Saffiano leather. They’re also all on mega-sale right now + don’t miss out on a discount code when you sign up for their email list!
